Each meeting blends skill instruction, safety training, interactive demonstrations, and biblical reflection, making it a holistic experience that cultivates physical ability, emotional maturity, and spiritual growth.
Foundations of Horsemanship — Understanding horse behavior, communication, grooming, anatomy, and safe handling, including the use of halters, leads, bridles, and saddles.
Riding Skills & Practice — Mounting, posture, rein control, steering, stopping, and trail riding, taught progressively for all ability levels.
Hands-On Experiences — Farm tours, grooming sessions, tack use, and optional extended riding experiences deepen learning and build confidence.
Biblical Integration — Each meeting ties a horsemanship skill to a biblical principle such as obedience, guidance, trust, leadership, and faith. Key passages include Deuteronomy 28:1, James 3:3, Exodus 19:5, John 3:36, and Proverbs 1:5.
Leadership-Ready Format — Includes meeting guides, safety notes, team discussions, games, devotionals, and reflection prompts to equip leaders to run smooth, engaging sessions.
By the end of the mission, young men will:
Understand the basics of horse care, behavior, and communication.
Demonstrate practical skills in grooming, saddling, riding, and barn safety.
Gain confidence through hands-on experience with live horses.
Build character qualities such as patience, responsibility, humility, teamwork, and courage.
Learn how obedience to God provides guidance, protection, and blessing—mirrored in the relationship between rider and horse.
Battalion Horsemanship is more than an introduction to working with horses—it is a transformational discipleship experience. By learning how trust and obedience create harmony between horse and rider, young men gain a vivid picture of what it means to follow Christ wholeheartedly.
