The Tree Climbers Guild is a father-and-son/mentor-participant community designed to help men build meaningful relationships with boys while growing in faith, character, and practical life skills. A guild is a group of men striving together toward a common purpose—and this experience is built to help dads conquer fatherhood together through fun, structured meetings that create lasting memories and lasting discipleship.

This 4-meeting Mission Guide walks leaders step-by-step through engaging gatherings that blend:

  • Relationship-building between dads/mentors and boys
  • Hands-on skill experiences through projects and demonstrations
  • Spiritual development through Scripture, discussion, and shared learning
  • Games, stories, and meaningful conversations that connect faith to everyday life

Unit Theme: Maps and Compass

Through learning how maps and compasses help travelers find their way, the boys will be reminded that God is the one true God, that His way is right, and that Jesus is the only way to the Father.

What’s Inside (4 Weeks)

Each meeting includes a clear plan for Welcome, Game Time, Skill Time, Dad/Mentor Time, and Story Time, with appendices that provide additional project options, meeting schedules, and leadership tactics. 

  • Week 1: The One True God – Isaiah 45:5A
  • Week 2: God’s Way is Right – Psalm 25:4
  • Week 3: God Knows Best – Psalm 121:2
  • Week 4: Jesus is the Way – John 14:6

Extra Ideas + Leader Helps

The guide also includes optional extra meeting activity suggestions.

  • Take the boys on an extended hike.
  • Before leaving, have the boys read the trail map, identify the route, notice major landmarks, and plan key turns or stopping points.
  • During the hike, have the boys help guide the group by checking the map, watching for trail signs, and comparing the route with what they planned.
  • Plan a family hike where your son is the navigator.
