This Mentoring Adventure is MADE FOR MEN BY MEN who want to make a difference in their own son’s (or other boy’s) life. In two easy steps, the two of you together will learn about the history of pocketknives and how to whittle and then go on an exciting hike Adventure together to find your walking sticks.

Age Range: For boys ages 5-13

Men: Explain with your mentee why following God’s commands can be compared to following knife safety rules – they are for our good.

 I have yet to meet a boy who does not want to own and whittle with a pocketknife. Create lasting memories with your mentee by teaching him how to use the pocket knife properly and how to sharpen a knife. Then go on a hike together to find a walking stick and using the whittling techniques learned to make a personalized walking stick.

This Adventure provides teachable moments to discuss together that God has provided many wonderful gifts for us to use when used safely but are dangerous with serious consequences when handled carelessly. God has rules (commands) for our good (safety) that we need to obey so that our lives honor God.
